Calculator of Inadequate Micronutrient Intake (CIMI) vs Nutrisurvey (NS)/ EBISpro, which program is appropriate for rapid assessment of nutritional status?

Nutrisurvey (NS) and Calculator of Inadequate Micronutrient Intake (CIMI) are widely used for nutrition data analysis. Both of these programs are user-friendly and easy to install on electric devices.

Individual food consumption from 24-h recall or Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) will be inputted into the programs and the amount of macronutrients (protein, carbohydrate, fats) and micronutrients (iron, zinc, preformed vitamin A, carotenoids, retinol equivalents/RE ), and percent of total energy intake was automatically calculated by the programs.

This calculation is based on the recommended nutrient intake (RNI) from the Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization (FAO/WHO) which divided the requirement based on age and sex. Information of the RNI fulfillment will be generated after inputting data to the programs.

The Comparison of both programs will be observed using the same food consumption of 24-h recall and the average energy, protein, iron, zinc, vitamin A intake calculated by NS and CIMI.  Data from both programs will be analyzed and compare the result of each based on the nutrition intake recommendation

Beschreibung des interdisziplinären Teils des Projekts
Students from all majors can apply to the project, the project using the user friendly apps and all the student will receive the basic knowledge of nutrition. Introduction, guidelines, and the purposes of the project will be clearly explained and delivered to the students at the beginning of the project. Since the application is closely related with the daily life, it will so easy to follow the project.

Details zu Projektzeitraum und Durchführung

Introduction, guidelines to the programs and the purposes of the project will be delivered to the students at the beginning of the project.  

Afterward, the student will input the 24-h recall and FFQ to the programs. Each of result will be compared and also classify the result based on several classification. The result from both of the program will be analyzed.
