Crop Modelling for Sustainable Agriculture under Climate Change

Beschreibung

Curious about how climate change is shaping the future of agriculture?
Join our project on crop modelling with maize using the powerful DSSAT (Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer) simulation platform. You’ll analyze real data, explore the effects of climate change, and project future climate scenarios — all while gaining hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture research.

You will learn how climate change affects maize production and how to simulate crop growth under various environmental conditions. Using real-world data and DSSAT, you will conduct simulations to examine how factors such as CO₂ concentration, temperature change, or drought stress (depending on your interest) influence maize growth and yield.

DSSAT is a comprehensive, Windows-based software that includes dynamic models for over 45 crops (https://dssat.net/). It integrates weather, soil, genetic, and management data to simulate crop development, growth, and yield — providing a powerful tool for exploring sustainable agricultural solutions in a changing climate.

Beschreibung des interdisziplinären Teils des Projekts
This project bridges two essential research fields: • Crop modelling — quantitative analysis of crop growth and management practices • Climate change impact assessment — exploring how future environmental changes influence agricultural productivity By combining these disciplines, you will develop both technical and analytical skills relevant to modern agricultural and environmental research.
