How is the relationship of nutritional compositions and fiber digestibility parameters of tropical forage legumes with different maturity stage?

Beschreibung

Dietary fiber is generally described as all plant polysaccharides and lignin which are insusceptible to hydrolysis by digestive secretions in the gastrointestinal tract of the animal. Recently, the undigested neutral detergent fiber (uNDF) and potentially digestible fiber (pdNDF) can be the proxy of fiber digestibility. However, the relationship of the nutritional compositions i.e. concentrations of CP, aNDFom, ADF, Lignin (sa), hemicelluloses, and cellulose correlate with the fiber digestibility parameters have not been studied yet, especially in tropical forage legumes with different maturity stage i.e. young, medium, and old. Therefore, this project will provide the opportunity for students to perform data analyses, thus to explore the relationship of nutritional compositions and fiber digestibility parameters of tropical forage legumes with different maturity stage.

Beschreibung des interdisziplinären Teils des Projekts
The student(s) will be introduced to the project and given the brief introduction about the data which consists of 18 samples of tropical forage legumes. The student(s) will be supervised intensively specially to run the software SAS 9.4 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA. Together with the supervisor, the student(s) will conduct the statistical analyses of data i.e. correlation analysis, simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression. Discussions and explanations during the execution will be regularly conducted. Results will be presented in form of an abstract and a poster at the Humboldt reloaded conference.
