RNA-Based Pesticides – Formulation Development Internship

Beschreibung

Are you passionate about plants, bacteria, and proteins? Join us for an exciting 2-3 week internship focused on developing RNA-based sustainable solutions for agricultural pest control. This project integrates molecular biotechnology with protein chemistry, exploring how proteins can be harnessed to create eco-friendly pesticides.

In this hands-on internship, you will learn about protein production, purification, and in-planta phytoxicity assays. You’ll also work on developing an innovative solution to reduce the environmental impact of pest management.

Interested? Feel free to reach out to me via email at venkata.amineni@uni-hohenheim.de for more details!

Benefits:

  • Gain practical experience in experimental design, molecular biology techniques, protein chemistry, and plant transformation.
  • Contribute to an impactful project focused on sustainable pest control and environmental protection.
  • Opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge research project in the field of agricultural biotechnology.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform phytotoxicity assays using provided proteins.
  • Produce and purify proteins using bacterial expression systems.
  • Maintain plants in the greenhouse and assist in the experimental setup.

Application Process: Interested candidates should submit their CV along with a brief cover letter detailing their interest in the project and relevant experience related to the responsibilities listed. While not mandatory, prior experience working with proteins and bacteria is highly preferred.

Note: We encourage interested applicants from all backgrounds to apply, including those who don't have much experience. We will provide support at every step to help you work effectively with and contribute to the project.

We look forward to your applications and to working together towards sustainable solutions in agricultural pest management!

Beschreibung des interdisziplinären Teils des Projekts
This project combines molecular biotechnology (for protein production and RNA delivery) and agricultural sciences (for pest control and plant care). Students will engage in both scientific research and the application of lab-based technologies in the greenhouse setting. By working in an interdisciplinary team, students will experience how different approaches intersect to address a real-world agricultural problem.
