Role of Youth-Led Initiatives in Agrifood Systems Transformation: Insights from the World Food Forum FAO Flagship Event

Beschreibung

Launched in 2021, the World Food Forum (WFF) is an independent, youth-led global network of partners facilitated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), acts as the leading global platform to actively transform the agrifood systems for a better food future, accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to FAO, WFF objectives to initiate a global movement that empowers young people everywhere. The WFF Flagship Event will advance bold and actionable solutions to catalyze the transformation of our agrifood systems, in light of current challenges and crises such as climate change, food insecurity, and unsustainable farming practices, young innovators play a crucial role in driving new approaches to these issues. This research will explore how the youth-led innovations emerging from the World Food Forum contributed to agrifood system transformation and what are their economic and environmental impacts.

This study will comprise a systematic review of youth-led projects and initiatives presented at the WFF over the past five years. Using secondary data sources such as WFF reports, FAO publications, and project documentation, the research will analyze how these youth-led projects and initiatives have impacted agrifood systems globally. The focus will be on understanding the type of innovations (technological, social, economic), their regional impact, and how they align with SDGs.
